All students participate in outdoor mountain sports and activities, though students must maintain their academics to do so. SVA offers students a wide range of sports including mountain biking, rock climbing, hiking, golf, swimming, and rafting. During the fall, students may compete on the coed SVA soccer team. During the winter, students may ski or snowboard daily at Alpine Meadows ski resort or Squaw Valley ski resort. Both mountain resorts are less than 10 minutes from the SVA campus and offer amazing views of Lake Tahoe and some of the best skiing and snowboarding in the area.
Each weekend, students enjoy supervised trips and seasonal activities such as rock climbing, swimming, skiing and snowboarding, or visiting museums, restaurants, amusement parks, and retail stores.
SVA accepts students each month of the school year (Rolling Enrollment) and students may attend for a full school year, a single semester, or one or both sessions of summer school.
Students attend summer school for three or six weeks, earn academic credit, and enjoy outdoor sports.
SVA is a safe, clean campus nestled in the trees and mountains of the Sierra Nevada at elevation 6,000 feet (2,000 m). The SVA campus has a range of seasonal climate with 300 days of sunshine each year.
