Why choose BSG?
We are passionate about, and experts in, girls’ education! We believe in offering every girl a well-rounded education in an environment with the space to inspire, challenge, encourage and support her to develop her full potential to become the amazing person she can be in this fast changing world. We want your child to grow with us, learn with us, make friends for life and enjoy her time with us. We encourage her to develop intellectual curiosity, self-esteem, respect and care for others, independence and excellence in all she does, with a real love for life.
Established in 1900 and set in beautiful English countryside, overlooking Glastonbury Tor, Bruton School for Girls is a day and boarding school on the Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire border, close to the historic city of Bath in South West England. Bruton is under two hours from London by road and rail and is ideally situated for London Heathrow and Gatwick or, more locally, Bristol International Airport. Each year we welcome a small number of overseas students from a variety of nationalities making up no more than 20%.
Sunny Hill Preparatory School takes boarders from 7 years old. The school has a reputation for being an incredibly happy school with very down-to-earth girls and parents and excellent results (we add on average, across every subject, approximately one grade to each girl’s predicted performance). With a dynamic young Headmistress, Mrs Nicola Botterill, who was formerly Deputy Head at St Mary’s, Calne and Putney High School, the school is driving forward and adding value in every way; offering excellence in educational and outstanding pastoral care with core values.
The school is one of only 27 schools in the country, and the only one in the South West to hold the Eco Schools Ambassador Award, demonstrating green issues and sustainability embedded into the ethos of the school. There are excellent links with the arts and culture in the region and last year the school received a Cultural Champion award from the government –backed organisation, Arts and Business.
Our excellent staff provide a hugely varied programme of evening and weekend activities for everyone to enjoy whether they are one of our 80 boarders or a day girl.
With three homely boarding houses, we take boarders from ages 7 to 18. We are also distinctive as a boarding school operating Monday-Friday lessons with matches and activities at the weekend, which allow pupils plenty of opportunity to fully immerse themselves in British life.
