Equinox to offer Cambridge English: First for Schools certificate preparation courses
Equinox Education Services, an Irish based education and cultural specialist is broadening out its range of services by offering Cambridge English: First for Schools certificate preparation courses. The courses are primarily aimed at students that come to Ireland for the academic year to learn English, whilst wishing to achieve a higher level of English language learning and accredited assessment. The course draws on the experience of Equinox’s founder, Noel Doyle’s more than 20 years teaching and has an emphasis on improving their overall English grammar, reading, speaking and listening skills. The 12-week programme, which is facilitated in association with the Dublin and Dún Laoghaire ETB (an authorised Cambridge English Assessment exam centre) will be available again from September 2019 and then at the beginning of 2020, culminating with the exams and the awarding of a Cambridge English: First for Schools certificate, for those that pass.
Speaking at the conclusion of the 12-week programme in May 2019, Equinox’s Director of Studies Noel Doyle commented “we decided to facilitate these additional English lessons following requests from our agent partners and indeed, direct requests from students seeking not only to further improve their English during their time in Ireland, but wishing to attain an accredited English qualification as well. The Cambridge English: First for Schools certificate fulfills this demand perfectly”. Noel added “for our first programme we taught a group of ten students of mixed abilities from Spain and Italy, who all participated diligently in our weekly, 2-hour lessons”.
Equinox further prepared students with a mock exam to replicate the test centre conditions the week before the actual test. They then traveled by a privately arranged bus with their teacher to sit their exam at the Cambridge English test centre in Dublin (1 Tuansgate Belgard Square East, Tallaght, Dublin) on 16th May and are currently awaiting their results which will be released at the end of June 2019. Noel remains confident that the class whole will do well, saying “our path towards attainment of the Cambridge English: First for Schools certification for students follows a set Cambridge First curriculum overseen by accredited teachers in a comfortable class conditions at our learning centre, and all with full assistance and materials provided”. He concludes “our aim is to further roll-out this service in other locations, so we are happy to discuss any individual or group requirements.”

“Hello my name is Pietro, I’m from Italy. I came to Ireland to study English for a year. During that time I was fortunate to attend the Cambridge First certificate preparation classes with Equinox Education Services. To prepare for this exam, I attended Equinox ‘s classes each week for English classes. I feel that these classes were essential for me to prepare for the exam which took place in Dublin. Each class was very organised in each topic, English writing, listening, reading and speaking. The research of material each week was very clear and easy to understand. Our teacher Noel was very helpful and kind to correct all my homework and queries by email every week. This I found very helpful and reassuring as I was preparing for the exam at the end of 12 weeks of classes in Carlow. I strongly recommend the classes if anyone would like to take the Cambridge certificate, because the course and the teaching is excellently delivered to achieve a successful result. I have enjoyed the full experience and I recommend other students who come to Ireland to avail of it.
Best of luck!
