We would like to offer huge congratulations to our colleagues Patrick Brennan and Sharon Cornally who recently achieved a Director of Studies and an advanced TEFL qualification, respectively.

Patrick achieved his Director of Studies qualification through International House’s Online Teacher Training Institute. The course course covered areas such as Defining the Duties of an Academic Manager, Communication, How to Manage Change, Time Management, The Recruitment Process, Induction, Developing a Teacher Development Programme, Conducting Observations, Motivating Staff, Conducting Appraisals, Customer Satisfaction and Financing.

Patrick has a dual role with Equinox as a qualified Teacher of English as a second language (TEFL and CELTA) and as our Activities Manager. He teaches on various programmes throughout the year and is responsible for planning and delivering a wide range of excursions, leisure activities and sports programmes for Equinox’s summer camps. Patrick has worked for various organisations including TUSLA and holds various youth and social work related qualifications including an honours degree in Applied Social Care.

Similarly, Sharon achieved her advanced TEFL qualification from the TEFL Institute of Ireland after 120 hours of on-line training. “TEFL” is the acronym for Teaching English as a Foreign Language, or simply, English language instruction for non-native speakers and is recognised world-wide as a teaching qualification. Sharon is an International coordinator with Equinox and also manages our busy Thurles  summer centre annually.
