Equinox Education Services are delighted to announce a new Educational partnership with ALFMED Académie De Langues, a specialised language school, in Perpignan, France to offer a two-week tailor-made French and activities programme for Irish students next Easter (Exact dates to be confirmed).

The programme is specifically aimed at teenagers from 14 to 18 years of age wishing to improve their French, including Transition year and Leaving Certificate students learning in preparation for state examinations. The course is intensive, but fun and designed to give the participants the opportunity to enjoy an immersive French and host-family experience.

Equinox and Alfmed have designed the programme with the Irish curriculum in mind so that students are equipped in the best way possible to benefit from the experience and take their learning of French to a higher level in a relatively short period of time.  The programme will cater for a group of at least 10 Irish students who will travel together from Ireland with an Equinox Leader, who will act as an additional guardian for the students during their stay.

Whilst many schools and organisations offer short-term excursions and overseas trips as part of a language learning experience, these often fall short in their planning and in the ultimate benefit for the students with many comprising of visits to tourist attractions and little or no interaction with the indigenous local population.

Below Equinox outline the benefits of the two-week Easter programme.

ALFMED Académie De Langues was founded by Managing Director Florence Delseny-Sobra in 2004. The Academy offers foreign students a complete cultural immersion and a unique experience of learning French in the South of France near the Mediterranean Coast and on the doorstep of Barcelona.  ALFMED offers French courses all year long for juniors, students, adults and welcomes some 250 foreigners (individuals and school groups from over 30 nationalities) annually, who want to learn French combinated with cultural outings and sports activities.

Florence who is a native of Perpignan, realised the potential of the region as being one of the best places for a foreigner to discover the diversity of France and to learn the language. In founding the academy a detailed survey of the motivation, needs and wishes of the foreign students present in Perpignan in order to define precisely what the best combination between academic courses and extra-curricular activities was.

From there on, Florence managed to find competent and experienced staff and qualified FLE teachers, a wonderful location in the historical center, all this allowing her to develop some unique programs. ALFMED’s objective is to insure a high level of education and a total immersion for its students. All of the academy’s FLE teachers’ mother tongue is French and they are holders of university diplomas FLE (Français Langue Etrangère / French as a Foreign Language).
